About Us

Edge Hill Cairns Bowls Club has a long history in Cairns as not only a club with considerable achievements, but also as a place of camaraderie. Our club’s reputation is built upon the pillars of fellowship, friendship, and support.

Established in 1953, Edge Hill Bowls Club has merged with Cairns Bowls Club and is now proudly Edge Hill Cairns Bowls Club, the premier lawn bowls club in Cairns.

During the COVID-19 pandemic and resulting closures, we took on the challenge of refurbishing the Club. With the assistance of Taubmans Paint and a generous grant from the Cairns Regional Council, we refreshed the interiors, bringing an updated feel to the venue for our reopening.

Edge Hill Cairns Bowls Club is a Dementia Friendly Club, meaning we are accessible for players and visitors who live with a disability and dementia. This was made possible through a grant from Dementia Australia, enabling us to update our facilities and equipment to make our club an enjoyable space for patrons of all abilities.

We are an inclusive club and venue where all are welcome.

Turn it into a social occasion – enjoy a delicious meal at our in-house bistro and celebrate your win at our licensed bar with a variety of delicious beers on tap as well as our broad wine selection. The Club House offers gaming facilities and plenty of onsite parking as well.

With a capacity for over 120 guests, we can host your birthday, celebration, or corporate function, and we often host our own events that members and casual visitors alike are welcome to attend.

Everyone is welcome at Edge Hill Cairns Bowls Club. Let the good times roll!

History

The chosen land set against the lush backdrop of Whitfield was originally owned by the RSS and AILA sub-branch. It was surrounded by cane farms and bushland, and players would often see cassowaries and their chicks go by.
